COLUMBIA, S.C. — Fort Jackson is ending overnight surgical and behavior health services at its Moncrief Army Community Hospital and turning it into a health clinic.
Hospital spokesman Nicholas Spinelli said the 24-bed hospital has around 1,045 military and civilian workers. Spinelli said he is seeking information about how many staff members will remain at the clinic, which opens June 15.
Moncrief commander Col. Traci Crawford said in a statement the clinic will maintain its primary care providers but will send complex surgical or inpatient overnight cases to local hospitals or the Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon in Georgia.
Spinelli said the clinic will continue to care for Fort Jackson's active-duty military and their families, the 58,000 soldiers that train there annually, and retirees.
