Two soldiers found themselves in South Korean police custody Monday after a scuffle in which one of the soldiers delivered a swift kick to the groin of an unsuspecting police officer.
Dongducheon police responded to an altercation between the two women and a 58-year-old South Korean man after the man, who is a member of the area’s neighborhood watch, reportedly confronted one of the women shortly after midnight when he saw her sitting on his motorcycle, Stars and Stripes reported.
The man tried to grab one of the women after the motorcycle fell over as she rose from the seat, prompting the two soldiers to attack him, police reported.
Police were at the scene shortly after, and as an officer moved to detain one of the soldiers, she allegedly Jean-Claude Van Damme’d the officer’s inguinal region.
No serious injuries, other than the officer’s pride, were reported.
The two women, ages 19 and 20, have since been transferred into the custody of military police, Stripes reported.
One soldier is reportedly stationed at Camp Humphreys, while the other is a member of the Dongducheon-based 2nd Infantry Division.
Eighth Army spokeswoman Col. Kimeisha McCullum told Stripes that “an investigation is being conducted to determine the facts."
