WEST POINT, N.Y. — Military cadets from around the world will be competing against each other at West Point later this week.
The U.S. Military Academy expects more than 500 cadets from service academies and universities to take part in the annual Sandhurst Military Skills Competition on Friday and Saturday.

The competition consists of 11 military-skill events ranging from marksmanship to grenade throwing. Each team consists of eight men and one woman.
Teams from this country’s service academies will compete against their counterparts from countries including Germany, South Korea, Brazil, Poland, Canada and Australia.
Last year’s winning team came from West Point.
