A Fort Bragg, North Carolina, soldier was killed Wednesday night following a fight with another soldier at a private residence in Fayetteville, an Army spokesman has confirmed to Army Times.
Just after 5:30 p.m., Cumberland County officials got a call about a shooting in the Brookshire neighborhood, according to a release from the sheriff’s department.
They pronounced Sgt. 1st Class Mark Leshikar, 33, dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives spoke to residents, according to the release, but no arrests have been made.
The soldiers were members of U.S. Army Special Operations Command, said Lt. Col. Robert Bockholt, a spokesman for the command. He could not provide the identity of the shooter.
The soldiers were acquainted, Bockholt added, but he could not confirm if they were Special Forces soldiers or support troops.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation, according to a release from Fort Bragg.
