A Fort Stewart soldier was killed Thursday evening near Statesboro, Georgia, when his motorcycle struck a civilian vehicle, according to an Army news release.
Pfc. Dylon Kelly, 21, an armor vehicle crewman assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, had served in the Army for 15 months
Fort Stewart was his first assignment; he has no operational deployments.
Kelly home of record was Benton, Illinois, and is survived by his father and stepmother.
“Pfc. Kelly was a hardworking and dedicated soldier his positive energy will be sorely missed in our unit,” said Capt. Jared Peterson, Kelly’s company commander, according to the release.
The incident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
