Retired Army Master Sgt. Lisa Beth Davis made an appearance as a ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant on Tuesday, walking away with second place and $2,000.
It would have been just another night on the NBC game show, except that viewers seized on one particular moment: While getting to know the contestants, host Alex Trebek asked Davis about her service.
“That must be really tough for a woman, because a master sergeant is giving orders most of the time,” he inquired. “How was it for you?”
With a smile, Davis responded that she was the oldest of several sisters and that she’d become “pretty bossy” by the time she was in charge of soldiers.
“So, you learned how to do it?” Trebek responded. “Good for you.”
Viewers immediately seized on the exchange, posting their thoughts on Trebek’s question to Twitter.
In the end, the Altadena, California-native lost to reigning champion Kate O’Connor, who is still holding strong going into Thursday night.
