A U.S. soldier stationed in Germany was found dead on Oct. 9 after being hit by a train, according to Army Criminal Investigation Command.

Spc. Rollin Carey, a satellite communications system operator, was found by German police near railroad tracks close to the train station in Landstuhl.

The 26-year-old was struck by a train, according to a Stars and Stripes report.

Army Criminal Investigation Command told Army Times that the German police are the lead investigators in this case.

Carey had been stationed at the Enterprise SATCOM Gateway in Landstuhl since March 2016, according to Stars and Stripes.
