An Army paratrooper was found dead in his barracks on Saturday in Italy, according to the service.
Pfc. Andrew Young was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy.
A public affairs officer with the brigade told Army Times on Wednesday there were no other details, and the incident is under investigation.
Young, a 21-year-old infantryman, joined the Army in 2015 and served with A Company, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade since January 2016.
His awards include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Parachutist’s Badge. Young was posthumously awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal.
