BURLINGTON, Vt. — A member of the Vermont National Guard will replace her camouflage fatigues with an evening gown to compete in the Miss Vermont pageant.
Kat Thompson tells WCAX-TV she wants to inspire young girls who don’t fit the stereotype of a typical pageant contestant.
She competed in last year’s pageant but didn’t make the top 10. She says she thought about her military training and being resilient in deciding to try again in November.
