The National Guard Bureau has welcomed a new senior enlisted adviser, officials announced in a press release.

Army Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Kepner will be responsible for advising Air Force Gen. Joseph Lengyel, the chief of the National Guard Bureau, on all matters concerning enlisted Army and Air National Guard troops.

"He embodies all the qualities we want to represent the soldiers and airmen of our National Guard," Lengyel said. "He has my complete trust and confidence. He will be my most important and trusted adviser as we work together as the NGB senior leadership team to support the men and women you command."

Kepner, who joined the Army in 1980, most recently was the command sergeant major of the Army National Guard.

He has previously served with the 82nd Airborne Division and 10th Mountain Division. He joined the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1987, and he has served as the top enlisted soldier for 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment, and then the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade. He also served as the command sergeant major of the Pennsylvania Guard's 28th Infantry Division.
