Former San Francisco 49ers running back Glen Coffee may be returning to the NFL.

Duray Oubre, Coffee's agent, told NFL Network Insider that Coffee is is considering a comeback after serving in the Army for four years. .

In 2009, Coffee was drafted by the 49ers thinking that "an NFL paycheck might make playing more palatable." He played one season where the 29-year-old tallied 11 receptions for 76 yards, one touchdown, and 83 carries for 226 yards.

After the season, Coffee decided to change paths and entered Army Ranger School with plans to join the Special Forces, but wound up as a paratrooper working for the 6th Ranger Training Battalion, according to a 2015 story by the Washington Post.

"I just felt like the league and that path wasn't for me," Coffee told the Washington Post, a viewpoint that clearly didn't last.

Thanks to his Army Ranger training and conditioning, Oubre said Coffee is "in great shape" and looking forward to playing again.
