Two soldiers have been charged with premeditated murder and other crimes in the disappearance of Pfc. Shadow McClaine, the Army announced Tuesday.
Sgt. Jamal Williams-McCray and Spc. Charles Robinson face charges of premeditated murder, kidnapping and conspiracy, according to officials. The charges were preferred Nov. 18.
McClaine was last heard from when she texted her mother Sept. 2 to say she was driving, according to The Leaf Chronicle newspaper in Clarksville, Tennessee. She did not report for duty Sept. 6, and her family, friends and authorities have been looking for her since then without success. Her car was later discovered abandoned in a Nashville parking lot, the newspaper reported.
All three soldiers are assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Williams-McCray is McClaine's ex-husband, according to The Leaf Chronicle.
On Oct. 26, officials said two men had been booked into the Montgomery County Jail, although the Army at the time did not say what they might be charged with or why they were being held. Officials at the time also said one of the suspects was being held on out-of-county warrants but they declined to publicly name the two men.
On Tuesday, the Army said Williams-McCray and Robinson are being held in pre-trial confinement pending a preliminary hearing.
Officials declined to release any additional information, citing the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings.
