West Point students bested teams from the Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Merchant Marine Academy and Royal Military College of Canada in a showdown against NSA professionals, who posed as hackers attempting to breach student-built networks.

Judges of the weeklong contest evaluated teams based on how well their networks held up and how they prevented, recovered from and analyzed infiltrations. West Point has won half of the 16 yearly contests, which began in 2001.

The Naval Academy took top honors last year. The Air Force Academy won in 2012 and 2013 but did not participate this year.
