The U.S. Military Academy is soliciting applications from qualified officers, major and above, to serve in functional area 47 as senior faculty members in various academic positions at West Point.

The FA 47 assignment opportunities are;

Professors: The senior military and academic leaders at the academy. Officers appointed to these statutory (Title 10, U.S. Code) positions will directly supervise academy professors and other senior military and civilian faculty.

Service in these positions requires that officers have extensive experience and a record of exemplary performance; an outstanding record of academic achievement, including a doctoral degree in their designated academic discipline, and completion of Intermediate Level Education.

Academy Professors: Officers who serve as the military and academic leaders within their respective departments, and who serve as a link between the senior academic leaders and the remainder of the faculty and staff. Academy professors must have a doctorate and credit for completion of Intermediate Level Education.

Positions open for recruitment are:

• Professor, USMA and deputy head, history.

• Professor, USMA and deputy head, mathematical sciences.

• Academy professor, foreign languages.

• Academy professor, law.

• Academy professor, mathematical sciences.

• Academy professor, systems engineering.

Selections will be made by a USMA panel that convenes Sept. 15. The application deadline is Sept. 14.

Applicants must be in the rank of major or above and hold doctorate degree. Officers with a master's degree also are eligible provided they can obtain a doctorate within three years of selection.
