A soldier from the 21st Theater Sustainment Command was found dead Monday in his barracks room, the Army announced Wednesday.
Spc. Kevin Christopher Kennerson, 21, of Mesa, Arizona, was found unresponsive in his room in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Kennerson was a wheeled vehicle mechanic with the 317th Support Maintenance Company, 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. The unit is part of the 21st TSC's 16th Sustainment Brigade.
"Spc. Kevin Kennerson was a dedicated and talented young soldier who inspired his fellow soldiers and the leaders within the command, and we are saddened by his loss," said Col. Michelle Letcher, the 16th Sustainment Brigade commander, in a statement. "His selfless service and dedication to our profession were evident through his support to sustaining a 'Strong Europe.' All of us within the Knight Brigade offer our sincerest condolences to his family, friends and fellow soldiers."
Kennerson's supervisor found him unresponsive in his quarters early on Monday morning and immediately notified emergency personnel, according to information from the Army. The section noncommissioned officer in charge and emergency personnel tried unsuccessfully to revive him, according to the Army.
The cause of death is under investigation.
Kennerson is survived by his parents, John Kennerson and Tammy Morrison.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Rock Chapel at Smith Barracks in Baumholder, Germany.
