COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Fort Carson soldier was convicted of murder in the shooting death of a fellow soldier when they were deployed in Jordan.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reports Spc. Jeffery Page was found guilty Wednesday in the May 17, 2014, death of 19-year-old Spc. Adrian Perkins.
Perkins was shot in the head while he was carrying lunch to Page and another soldier at a guard post.
Prosecutors say Page disliked Perkins because of his messy attire, lack of military demeanor and lackluster soldier skills. But the defense argued that Page was tired and bored when he aimed what he thought was an unloaded rifle at Perkins.
Page is from Perrysburg, Ohio, and Perkins was from Pine Valley, California. Both were assigned to Fort Carson.
