Officials have released the name of a soldier who was found unresponsive in his residence at Fort Hood, Texas.

Sgt. Eric Artine Gharakhanian was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center.

Gharakhanian, 28, from Glendale, California, entered active duty in March 2011 as a human resources specialist.

He was assigned to 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since September. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2011 to March 2012.

Gharakhanian's awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, and the Combat Action Badge.

The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
