Norris had pleaded guilty along with Sgt. Seneca Darnell Hampton, 31,in February to one count of conspiracy to commit bribery of a public official and one count of money laundering. The two had been collecting about $2,000 per day from local truck drivers while allowing them to take thousands of gallons of fuel from the base, which typically ended up on the black market.

A soldier pleaded guilty to taking bribe money from Afghans in exchange for fuel. He used some of the money to buy a Cadillac Escalade.

Both soldiers were Quartermaster Corps/Petroleum Supply Specialists (MOS: 92F).

Army records list Pensacola, Florida, as the home of record for Norris, who enlisted in 1991. He has earned a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal and eight Army Commendation Medals. Based in Fort Irwin, California , he has deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan twice.

Hampton, a Gautier, Mississippi, native, deployed to Afghanistan twice since enlisting in 2008, and has three ARCOMs.
