Spc. Jeffrey T. Page, with 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, has not denied shooting Spc. Adrian M. Perkins (pictured) while they were on deployment to Jordan in May. However, Page's civilian attorney called the act a "tragic accident" at an Article 32 hearing held at Fort Carson in December, saying his client aimed his M4 carbine at Perkins through a guard shack window and pulled the trigger, but intended to dry fire.

Prosecutors challenged that assertion, claiming Page had the training required to clear his weapon properly and that Perkins was considered a poor soldier and a social outcast among his squadmates, and had once pointed his gun at Page.

Base officials said in an email Wednesday that the Article 32 investigating officer determined "there was probably cause for all offenses and that they be tried by general court-martial," and that the case would be heard in "early summer."
