The Army on Sunday released the name of the soldier killed in a vehicle rollover accident Friday at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Staff Sgt. Justin Holt, 31, was killed when the Stryker he was riding in rolled over about 9:30 p.m. Friday during training on post.
Six other soldiers were injured in the accident, officials said. They all were assigned to the 4th Infantry Division's 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
Holt, who was from Bogata, Texas, joined the Army in April 2004. He had deployed twice to Iraq and to Kuwait during his time in the Army. Holt was a cavalry scout who arrived at Fort Carson in June 2011.
The six injured soldiers were medically evacuated after the accident.
Four of them were treated and released from local hospitals. Two soldiers remained hospitalized Sunday evening at Penrose Main Saint Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Army officials said. One of those soldiers is in stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital soon, officials said. The other suffered a serious injury but is in stable condition, officials said.
Holt and the injured soldiers were in a Stryker fighting vehicle as part of a field training exercise at a southern training range on Fort Carson.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, officials said.
