The Army is investigating the death of a soldier who was found unresponsive in his vehicle at Fort Hood, Texas.
Spc. Casey Andrew Chapman, 20, was found Wednesday. He was in his vehicle at one of the training areas on Fort Hood, officials said Friday evening.
Chapman, whose home of record is Augusta, Maine, joined the Army in January 2013 as an artillery mechanic. He had been assigned to 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since September 2014.
His awards and decorations include four Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Medal.
The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation. No further details were released Friday.
