The Army's long-standing policy of offering a modest Selective Re-enlistment Bonus to certain soldiers deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait has been rescinded, effective immediately.
Under this "location specific" option of the Tiered SRB program, deployed soldiers — regardless of their military occupational specialty — could receive lump-sum, flat-rate retention bonuses of $500 to $1,300 for service extensions of 12 to 60 months.
Payment levels were based on rank, and length of service extension.
In rescinding this MOS-immaterial bonus, the Human Resources Command said this retention option was adopted several years ago to support the Army's manpower build-up to support the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is no longer needed as "it has accomplished its purpose."
The bonuses for this option were paid at Tier 1, the smallest incentive level of the Selective Re-enlistment Bonus Program as follows:
TIER LEVEL | RANK | 12 TO 23 MONTHS | 24 TO 35 MONTHS | 36 TO 47 MONTHS | 48 TO 59 MONTHS | 60 OR MORE MONTHS |
TIER 1 | PFC | $500 | $600 | $700 | $800 | $900 |
SPC | $500 | $600 | $700 | $800 | $900
SGT | $700 | $800 | $900 | $1,000 | $1,100
SSG/SFC | $900 | $1,000 | $1,100 | $1,200 | $1,300 |
