CINCINNATI (AP) — A federal mediator will take up the case brought by the southern Kentucky woman seeking to have her late husband's World War II commendations upgraded to a Medal of Honor.
Lyda P. Conner of Albany, Kentucky, near the Tennessee line, has waged a 17-year campaign to have the Army to look again at the record of Lt. Garlin Murl Conner. She wants the Army to review sworn statements about Conner's actions from people who served with him.
Garlin Conner was a member of the 3rd Infantry Division. He was wounded seven times and was awarded four Silver Stars.
The mediator for U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals did not indicate Friday when talks would be scheduled.
A three-judge panel of the court heard arguments from both sides Thursday.
