At IHG® Army Hotels, we strive to offer our guests a higher rank of hospitality, and our team members carry that ethos with them on post every day. And though each of our colleagues offer their unique perspective, our veterans and military spouse team members always go above and beyond in creating an environment that caters to our guests, and it’s important to recognize the attributes they bring to the table. In fact, 25% of IHG Army Hotels on-post staff are either veterans themselves or military spouses, and we’re always looking for these highly specific traits and backgrounds:
Veterans
Serving distinguished military guests at the level they deserve would simply not be possible without our Veteran team members. Not only do they understand the intricacies of military life, but they also embody the service culture IHG Army Hotels guests deserve, delivered with a work ethic stemming from their military service. At IHG Army Hotels, our Veteran team members are more than their rank: they are part of what makes our guests feel at home.
Paul Neale, Operations Manager at IHG Army Hotels on Fort Bragg and U.S. Air Force Veteran, discusses the unique perspective of IHG Army Hotels team members:
“Since a lot of us here either served or were dependents of those who served, our shared experience about PCS and staying in hotels proves invaluable to our guests and we’ve received very positive comments from our guests stating as much.”
Military Spouses
It’s not just those who have served that help distinguish our IHG Army Hotels culture; military spouses are uniquely qualified to serve our guests. They have experience with frequent moves, multi-tasking, and most of all a knowledge and respect for the unique challenges that come with the military life. And the best part is, working for IHG means they can transfer to any of our IHG branded hotels in the world, so if their service member spouse transfers to another base, they can continue their careers as they make the move along with them. Without our military spouses, IHG Army Hotels would never feel as welcoming to our community as they do currently.
Jody Sessions, General Manager at IHG Army Hotels on Yuma Proving Ground, tells us how her experience in a military family helps her assist guests and direct her team members:
“There is nothing more stressful for a military family than moving. For us, the hardest part was staying in temporary lodging while waiting for on-post housing with four kids. I want our team to go above and beyond to make military families feel at home while they’re with us.”
