Calling all noncommissioned officers. It's time again for another State of NCO Development Town Hall, and the topic at hand is talent management.
The virtual town hall, hosted by Training and Doctrine Command, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday. It will be live-streamed around the world at www.tradoc.army.mil/watch.
To participate, log on to the chat room from the live-stream page or use the hashtag #TRADOCtownhall on Twitter. Soldiers also can upload video or typed questions to TRADOC's Facebook page.
Experts from the Army and TRADOC G-1 (personnel), Human Resources Command, West Point, ROTC, Officer Candidate School and Cadet Command will be on hand to answer any questions you have about opportunities for career advancement and how to put that talent to use. They also can discuss broadening and operational assignments, and switching career paths to become warrant or commissioned officers.
"It's really about the opportunities out there and how to manage your career," said Command Sgt. Maj. David Davenport, the senior enlisted soldier for TRADOC.
This is the third town hall event hosted by Davenport, and the meetings have proven to be popular.
"We’ve touched over 3 million social media accounts by doing these town halls," Davenport said. "There’s an understanding that’s growing out there about what we are doing, and I think a lot of that is due in large part to the town hall."
Davenport, who also runs a blogwhere soldiers can provide him with ideas and feedback, said he looks forward to Thursday’s town hall.
"At the end of the day, it’s about how do you identify the best person for the job," he said. "It’s about building a better, more well-rounded NCO."
