Sgt. Shaquille D. Craig was arrested Thursday by police in Hinesville, Georgia, charged in the double homicide of two soldiers from Fort Stewart, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Spc. Marquez Brown, 23, and Pvt. Malika Jackson, 21, were found dead in an off-post apartment Sunday night in Hinesville. Police in Atlanta received an anonymous tip that there were two men dead inside the apartment and contacted the Hinesville Police Department.

Craig, 24, of Selma, Alabama, joined the Army in June 2012 and arrived at Fort Stewart in January 2014. He is a petroleum supply specialist assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division.

There had been a party in the apartment on Saturday and both victims were seen alive Sunday morning, according to Hinesville police Capt. J.C. Reid.

Police reports obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution describe a grim crime scene, with Brown and Jackson found dead in a pool of their own blood. Both had been shot and one soldier had a large knife in his throat.

Brown served as a wheeled-vehicle driver, joining the Army in October 2014. He arrived at Fort Stewart in April 2016.

Jackson served as an automated logistics specialist, joining the Army in May 2016. He arrived at Fort Stewart in October 2016.

Both men were assigned to 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.

Craig remains in the Liberty County Jail and is being held without bond.
