Hope Mills police say Fort Bragg soldier Jonathan Coleman, 39, was shot in the back Wednesday evening during a domestic dispute with his wife.
Officers were responding to a reported shooting and found Coleman with a gunshot wound to his upper left back, Chief Joel Acciardo said in an email to The Fayetteville Observer.
"At this time, it appears the victim was shot by his wife, 25-year-old Sarah Colman," who is also an active-duty soldier. No charges have been filed since, "This investigation is in its early phase," said Acciardo.
Jonathan Coleman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. His condition was unavailable as of Thursday morning, said The Observer.
