Four soldiers were taken to the hospital Tuesday after a helicopter training accident, according to a press release from the 101st Airborne Division.
The soldiers were injured an in incident involving a UH-60 Black Hawk at around 11 a.m. local time at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the release said.
The soldiers were aboard the helo for training when it caught fire and went down, officials with the 101st Airborne Division said. Fort Campbell Fire and Emergency Services personnel were able to put the fire out, and 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers on the ground extracted the aircrew, according to an updated press release.
The four injured soldiers were driven or airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital.
"Our priority is to provide the best medical care available to the soldiers and support services to their families," said Maj. Gen. Andrew P. Poppas, commanding general of both the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. "Their care and well-being is of our utmost concern."
The Army declined to release the names of the soldiers or the nature of their injuries. The accident is under the investigation, according to the release.
