A Fort Hood soldier died Sunday at Temples Lake Park in Texas while swimming with another soldier, according to a spokeswoman for the Temple Police Department.
The soldier, who has not been identified, was visiting with three others, Officer Shawana Neely told Army Times on Monday.
"Two of the soldiers were out swimming when one of them went down in the water and never resurfaced," she said.
Police were dispatched to the lake just before 2 p.m. and spent almost three hours looking for the soldier's body.
It's unknown at this time whether alcohol was involved, Neely said.
More information about the soldier was not immediately available, but Fort Hood officials plan to release more details 24 hours after the soldier's family is notified, according to a spokesman.
