The Killeen Police Department in Texas has arrested a Fort Hood soldier for intentionally harming and causing the death of an infant, according to a department press release.
Pfc. Zachary Kadetz, 21, was arrested March 24 and has been charged with injury to a child, according to the release. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
The arrest stems from a 911 call on Feb. 18 about a 3-month-old boy who was unresponsive and not breathing.
Paramedics performed CPR on the infant before he was transferred to a local children's hospital.
"On February 24, 2017, Justice of the Peace David Barfield pronounced the infant deceased at 3:35 p.m. and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas," the release said.
An investigation found that Kadetz had intentionally harmed the child, police said.
Kadetz is a combat medic assigned to the 61st Medical Battalion, 1st Medical Brigade at Fort Hood, according to spokesman Tyler Broadway.
