The commanding officer and command sergeant major of Womack Army Medical Center have been temporarily suspended pending an unspecified investigation, an XVIII Airborne Corps spokesman confirmed to Army Times on Friday.
Col. Lance Raney and Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Stoddard have been temporarily reassigned, and Col. Johnnie Wright Jr. has assumed command of the Fort Bragg, North Carolina, medical center, Maj. Ellis Gales said.
"We wanted to reassure the public that the investigation has nothing to do with the quality of care of Womack," he said.
Gales declined to provide any more information about the investigation or what prompted it.
Raney, a career family medicine doctor, took command of the hospital in January 2016. Stoddard took over as the senior enlisted soldier last May.
Womack is the main hospital serving Fort Bragg soldiers and area veterans, the most populous post in the Army. The 138-bed hospital admits more than 11,000 patients a year, according to its web site.
