Officials with 101st Airborne Division have identified a 23-year-old specialist as the man military police apprehended Thursday after reports of shots fired near Campbell Army Airfield on Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Spc. Bryan Castillo allegedly fired twice after entering Hangar 8 around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a Friday news release from the installation. He fled the hangar by car and was pursued by law enforcement, the release states, allegedly hitting another car during the chase and reaching his on-post residence before being taken into custody.

Law enforcement officials found weapons and ammunition in Castillo's vehicle, the release states. The entire ordeal lasted about 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.

Castillo, a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter repairer, began serving at Fort Campbell in September 2013, per the release. 

Base officials say a motive is unknown and an investigation is ongoing. The soldier is being held at the Montgomery County Jail with no formal charges filed.
