Mandatory Reserve of the Army boards will convene July 12 to consider Judge Advocate General's Corps officers for advancement to colonel and lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve.
The primary zone for colonel will include all JAG Corps lieutenant colonels with O-5 dates of rank of April 1, 2011, through March 31, 2012.
Majors with O-4 dates of rank of April 1, 2010, through March 31, 2011, will be in the primary zone for the lieutenant colonel board.
Both boards are authorized to make below-zone selections from among officers with these dates of rank:
Colonel BZ category — April 1, 2012, through March 31, 2013.
Lieutenant colonel BZ category — April 1, 2011, through March 31, 2012.
Officers who are assigned to the Army Reserve component of the active Guard and Reserve are eligible for these boards, as are non-AGR officers assigned to Troop Program Units, the Drilling Individual Ready Reserve and the Individual Mobilization Augmentee program.
Under Army policy, Reserve officers must meet certain military education requirements to be qualify for promotion consideration. Those requirements are:
For colonel — 100 percent completion of the legacy Command and General Staff Officer Course, or completion of the resident Intermediate Level Education-Common Core course.
For lieutenant colonel — 50 percent completion of the legacy Command and General Staff Officer Course, or completion of the resident Intermediate Level Education Course, or completion of the Intermediate Level Education Common Core Course.
Officer evaluation reports submitted for the July board must be received in the evaluation branch of the Human Resources Command by July 5.
Record reviews using the online My Board File system also must be completed by July 5.
