A soldier from Fort Hood, Texas, has died from an apparent gunshot wound, officials said Monday.
Spc. Cecelia Devonna Shannon was found unresponsive in her off-post residence in Killeen, Texas, last Wednesday. She was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas, where she was pronounced dead the next day.
Shannon, 22, was from Huntsville, Alabama. She joined the Army in October 2012 as a horizontal construction engineer. She had been assigned to the 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, on Fort Hood since November 2014.
Her awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
The circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation.
