A soldier from the 1st Theater Sustainment Command was found dead Tuesday at his home in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Master Sgt. Daniel A. Wells, 37, was an electronic maintenance chief in the support operations section, Special Troops Battalion, 1st TSC, according to information from the Army. He was based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating the circumstances of Wells' death.
"The First Team family has suffered a great loss, and we are deeply saddened by this," said Lt. Col. Landis Maddox, Wells' battalion commander, in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Master Sgt. Wells' family and friends during this difficult time."
Wells joined the Army in July 1997. He was assigned to the 1st TSC in June of this year.
He served one deployment to Iraq in 2007.
Wells' awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
He is survived by his wife and son.
