Spc. Nethaniel H. Wolfson died in a one-car accident during the early morning hours Sunday at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The accident, which occurred on post, is under investigation. Fort Bragg public affairs officers declined to elaborate on the specific time of day or what the 22-year-old from Geneseo, N.Y., struck with his car.
The wreck happened on post.
Wilson, 22, was from Geneseo, New York. He entered active duty in April 2013 as a signal systems support specialist after attending basic at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He received advanced individual training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, before he was assigned to the 122nd Aviation Support Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division one year ago.
His commander called Wilson a dedicated and valued asset who "served with distinction and honor."
"Spc. Wolfson was an incredibly active and jovial Paratrooper who was well-liked and admired by everyone in his unit," said Capt. Isaac J. Gregory, the 122nd ASB rear-detachment commander, in a press release. "He will be truly missed."
Wolfson's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
