Officer promotion update: September

Colonel

Army Category: Promotions off the 2007 Army Competitive Category lists began in January. These are the first O-6 lists to use the new functional groups (Maneuver, Fires and Effects; Operational Support; and Force Sustainment) of the Officer Personnel Management System. The 2008 board met in July and early August. The selection list is pending release and Senate confirmation.

Judge Advocate General’s Corps: The 2007 list was completed with April promotions. The 2008 board convened Aug. 12.

Chaplain Corps: July promotions began the June 2007 list. The 2008 board met June 3-6, and the list is pending release.

Medical Corps: September promotions will complete the 2006 list. The 2007 and 2008 lists are available for promotions as needed.

Dental Corps: September promotions will complete the 2006 list. The 2007 and 2008 lists are available for promotions as needed.

Medical Service Corps: July promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 board met in July, and the selection list is pending release and Senate confirmation.

Medical Specialist Corps: March promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 board met in July and the selection list is pending release and Senate confirmation.

Veterinary Corps: April promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 board met in July and the selection list is pending release and Senate conformation.

Nurse Corps: June promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 board met in July and the selection list is pending release and Senate confirmation.

Lieutenant colonel

Army Category: Promotions are being distributed by the three functional categories of the revised Officer Personnel Management System. September promotions will initiate advancements off the 2008 lists that were released July 1.

Judge Advocate General’s Corps: July promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 board convenes Aug. 19.

Chaplain Corps: Promotions will be made from the 2008 list.

Medical Corps: September promotions will complete the 2007 list. The 2008 board met in February, and the list was released June 10.

Dental Corps: September promotions will complete the 2007 list. The 2008 board met in February and the list was released June 10.

Medical Service Corps: September promotions will initiate advancements off the 2008 list.

Medical Specialist Corps: September promotions will initiate advancements off the 2008 list.

Veterinary Corps: September promotions will initiate advancements off the 2008 list.

Major

Army Category: March 1 promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 board met April 8-May 2, and the new list is pending release and Senate confirmation.

Judge Advocate General’s Corps: A new 73-name list is pending Senate confirmation.

Chaplain Corps: Promotions are being made from the 2008 list.

Medical Corps: September promotions will complete the 2007 list. The 2008 list was released July 10 and is available for October promotions.

Dental Corps: September promotions will complete the 2007 list. The 2008 list was released July 10 and is available for October promotions.
